Do you think that people make a difference between "Physical Dedicated Server" and "Virtual Dedicated Server"?
How would you compare them ?

    Hi
Physical dedicated servers are just known as dedicated servers and are large physical server machines placed in datacenters. They are very powerful performance wise and really secure as well. When it comes to virtuality, virtual dedicated servers are the VPS servers. They are dedicated to one user only and they are much safer and independent than shared servers. They are a much cheaper alternative to dedicated servers.

I prefer Cloud dedicated servers if thinking on the line of Security. Because in a cloud environment lot people are responsible for the security whereas in a physical server only a guy or few guys are responsible.

Server is a physical computer. Dedicated server means the server is dedicated to only one user. A server can be virtualized to host many more users. Virtualized dedicated server units are sold as VPS.

As the name implies, a Physical Server (also known as Dedicated or Bare Metal server) is an actual tangible and physical server, that is, a big computer located on some place in the world that can be used for a customer/user to host stuff (be it web hosting, game servers, backup services, etc).

A Virtual Private Server or VPS (sometimes referred as Cloud Server by some providers) is a virtual space, that is, a space created with software that includes OS, dedicated storage space and resources as if it were a physical server, but actually is like 'emulated' inside a real computer.

The advantage of a Virtual server is that there can be many virtualizations on a same server, so it's cheaper than a real physical server, the disadvantage is that it shares resources and it may be slower than a dedicated server.

A virtual private server is a process of virtually partitioning a physical server into multiple servers so that each virtual partition runs its own operating system and possess the appearance and capabilities of running its own dedicated machine. In other words, the actual hardware server is partitioned into numerous isolated environments.
A dedicated server hosting as the name suggests reserves the entire server and its resources for a single website or organization.
